The state of things: We’re back. This site will be used again.

Posted in News, Ranting, Shows, Talk, Uncategorized on July 6, 2010 by ANCESTOR.

So, by now (we hope), a few of you may have noticed we are back and, again, with an updated line-up. While some may have written us off as dead, they forget that we do not die. We may, in fact, be eternals (Comics, Cannonball, X-Force, no?…okay).
Anyways, here is a brief synopsis of how we got here:
- We recorded “Allude To Illusion”
- As often happens when we try to do things, particularly after recordings, someone left (this time it was Chris). Its cool, no hard feelings.
- After a lot of talk and discussion shortly after, we also parted ways with Dan, completely amicably. He’ll always be our awkward tall guy who was 17 for 3 years.
- We played Subcolour’s reunion show at the end of ’09.
- We (Scott, Trevor, Mike) took a break from everything since we’ve been more or less getting crapped on as a band (prevail, ancestor, whatever) fairly consistently for more years than we remember. We weren’t in a huge hurry to launch a search for 2 new guitarists again since we’ve gone through a few and we exist in a bit of a niche.
- (In March/April-ish) We were offered a show June 4th with some cool bands and decided we were damn tired of not playing, started thinking about things, but had all become somewhat busy.
- With time ticking, we asked Will Schaeffer and Matt Hershey to play the show with us and crammed as much shredding into the 2 weeks leading to the show as we could to teach/re-learn a full set of songs. Those two fine fellows are now our new guitarists and soon to be married whenever we go through Vermont on a weekend tour.
- Good times had, continuing on. We’re back and we want to trap you in a small contained space, yell and make loud noises at you, and cause headbanging.

That keeps things clean, shorter, and simple…so thats good enough.

Give us your rooms, your basements, your veterans halls and fire houses, WE SHALL SHAKE THEM TO THE EARTH. or something. If you’ve got shows, point us to them, even if they aren’t in PA, we’re looking to see melt some new faces.
Also, I’ll try to get this site update, maybe do a visual overhaul at some point.
Check out the NEW FACEBOOK PAGE. We’ve also added a show or two to our old myspace, if you remember that. Its like friendster. Or makeoutclub.

ANCESTOR RETURNS THIS FRIDAY w/ ROSETTA, ENGINEER, CETUS, BURDENS, and PASSAGE BETWEEN

Posted in News, Shows, Talk on June 2, 2010 by ANCESTOR.

I know, long time no talk, I certainly owe in an update even though I don’t think this page see’s a lot of action these days, we’ll get to it. Maybe….the important thing is we’re alive and we’re getting our stuff back together and we have a show friday, and an awesome one at that. We’ve been rushing to teach Will Schaeffer and Matt Hershey our guitar parts, so hopefully we’ll remember things, haha. Can’t wait. Bring a friend.
ROSETTA, ENGINEER, ANCESTOR, CETUS, BURDENS, PASSAGE BETWEEN - JUNE 4TH
Check out all of these bands – they are all awesome at what they do. I’m not entirely sure who Passage Between is, but if I was on the right site earlier, they could be pretty cool as well and may be on tour, so get there at a reasonable time, bum.
Oh yeah, we’re getting a facebook page started, as well as some others (later), but people don’t read…so if you got this far, “like” it and we’ll keep you updated there.
Be there, everything else will come in time.

FREE: BRAND NEW 4 SONG EP!

Posted in High Fives, Media, Merch, News, Press, Ranting, Record Release, Recording, Talk on August 30, 2009 by ANCESTOR.

So yesterday we went into the studio, recorded 4 songs, and came home with a final copy for everyone. Not bad for a days work. It is 100% Free. Spread it around, give it to your friends, post it on your site or music blog, do whatever you like, we just want people to check it out.
Here is a link to a zip folder with the 4 songs, a cover image for your media player, and lyrics and such.
FREE 4-SONG EP!: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?ni4dozjdjmi
Its free…did I say that? Check it out.

This was that neat thing I didn’t want to talk about until it was ready. We have terrible luck (for example, I got strep throat the day before we recorded this, haha), and I didn’t want to jinx it. Anyways, we hope you like it, let us know.
This was recorded by a very sexy man known as Matt “Buckwheat” Buckley. If you give him a day, he’ll make your band sound like you know what you’re doing, haha. Check out his studio myspace here:
http://www.myspace.com/bowlingotterstudios

I’ve added the songs to our myspace page, our last.fm, and our reverb nation page. I’ll probably be posting them in some other spots as well. You can download the songs individually on those sites, too (except for myspace I guess since they seem to have disabled the download feature?!). All the lyrics are available in the download file, on myspace, or on this site. Learn them and take the mic next time you see us.

Alive. (not Pearl Jam)

Posted in News, Recording, Talk on August 3, 2009 by ANCESTOR.

I apologize for the lack of updates…things have been hectic/busy for everyone, even more so than usual, and therefore there was little to report.
That is changing. Expect something pretty awesome towards the end of the month. I’ll post more about it as things creep closer.  In this band, almost as soon as you say something, its jinxed, haha.
Hopefully, schedules and stable venues permitting, we’ll be getting back out and playing as well. Dammit, shouldn’t have said that. *see above*.
Updated lyrics page for a new song i’m sure you’ll be hearing soon. They were actually already up, but the ending went through the chopping block, so the lyrics did too, haha.

Anyways, Burdens just recorded some new stuff for a split with Cut Short, check out their myspace to hear 2 songs.

Talk to you soon.

SHOW SUNDAY – BENEFIT FOR AUTISM RESEARCH. R.I.P. Moose Lodge.

Posted in Shows, Talk on June 26, 2009 by ANCESTOR.

We’ve got a show this Sunday. Its a benefit for Autism research, which should be enough reason to go, but its also very likely the last show at the moose lodge…or at least the last show involving hardcore, punk, metal or anything like it. As usual, a vibrant venue that should be embraced by the community as a haven for music, art, and kids not partaking in drugs/alcohol/general stupidity is gone. Anyways, without getting too far into that, here is the flyer for the show…which I believe starts at 6PM (not on there for some reason). Also, KISSINGER has replaced LENORE, which is alright because we love everyone in that band. Except the bassist we don’t know yet and Moses…because he is Moses. (<3z).

Alright, time get ready to go see Every Time I Die at some random sleezy cowboy bar with a mechanical bull….this is going to be awesome / hilarious. Here’s to hoping I don’t re-injure my knee and can walk for the show sunday. Eek.

More quickness.

Posted in Talk on June 11, 2009 by ANCESTOR.

Almost forgot to give my (attempted, but sometimes bi-) weekly “hello”.
We’re continuing to work around everything else and try to play shows and practice when we can. Still working on some stuff for late summer. More hints when that is solid.
Treading info:
Remember the show that was the 19th (w/ Blues, The_Network)  IS CANCELED. Still lame.  Burdens and Cut Short are playing in Chris’ basement, got to that maybe. They are touring all next week, so check those myspaces and go support them. Even Dan.
June 28th is on, and is a benefit for Autism research, so go or you’re soulless.Working on at least one show so far in July. Will be a fun one, will be for a good cause, will be in Ambler.
Send us shows. More hardcore shows (and of course, any other genre) are always welcome. I want to yell things at you.
Trevor and I just got back from Dillinger Escape Plan and my ears feel like I’m in a submarine and need to pop. Totally worth it. Put any doubts about their new drummer aside, he is ridiculous.
Hopefully I’ll have a real update soon, might have to skip next week though considering our guitarists will be on tour and i’ll be dorking it up at Wizard World Philly (über-nerd comic/entertainment convention) for at least a day (Ahem…hey ladies…)./
Go get the new Coalesce album whether you did or did not steal it from the interwebs already. Ridiculous. Put a lot into the package as well, so get the real thing.

Another quick one.

We’ve been quiet because, as often is the case, life hates us and everyone has been pretty busy outside of the band.
We’re still planning to put together something in the late summer that should be really cool, and when details are more definite maybe we’ll start blabbing about it.
We’ve got a show saturday at the Doylestown Teen Center, but I can’t seem to get any definitive details on that, haha. Our show June 19th with Blues and The_Network unfortunately got canceled for a variety of reasons, but we’ll still be at the moose lodge June 28th playing to benefit autism research.
We’re looking for stuff in July and beyond, so let us know if you’ve got any shows we could hop on.
Drop a line here or at myspace if you want to know anything or just say “hi”.
Moe’s ran out of tofu, mushrooms, and sweet tea today. What the hell man.
