WE ARE ANCESTOR. I mean, now we are. We were Prevail. Hi.

So if you’ve found your way here you’ve likely discovered that Prevail has decided to change their name to ANCESTOR. We’ve been kicking this idea around for some time, and, although it is somewhat risky to do, we hope everyone can continue to stick with us as we turn to a new page, if you’ll excuse the pompous metaphor. We would really love your help in spreading the word about this, or about our music in general. For more details on why the hell we’re doing this and other such useful info, go ahead and click the “read more” link you should see at the bottom of this post.

In other news, we will be featured on a FREE digital compilation being released by No Sleep Records on April 29th. All you need to do is go to their site and download the thing. There are lots of bands on this you may have heard of including My America Is Watching Tigers Die, The Jonbenet, The Fire The Flood, Spark Is A Diamond, Swallow The Ocean, and many more.

We have a few reasons for the name change. Most obviously, there have been Prevail’s…many. We ignored this for a long time, but it was always annoying. Not to mention, there are several bands with “Prevail” in their name that cause confusion in discerning one from another. We’d like to stand out at least a little more clearly, even though were sure there is an Ancestor or two lurking around…but just about every band name that isn’t retardedly ridiculous is taken. Also, we really should have done this after Alan left the band a while back and Dan and Evan joined us. Basically, we apologize for being thick-headed and not doing this when we should have.

“So what is going on? “You may ask. Well, a lot, we hope. We plan to finally release our 5 song EP, “Koalacaust”, sometime in the next 2 months or so. It will be released as ANCESTOR. We had hoped it’d be out many, many, months ago, but we didn’t really have the funding to push it ourselves and we were entertaining some interested parties to see if they were actually interested in helping us. Recently, we’ve worked out some plans to end the waiting and get to work on releasing this thing. The CD will be fully pressed and we plan to also have it available digitally…meaning you can buy it through Itunes, Amazon MP3, or other such services. Around the time of release, or earlier, we also plan to have a webstore up for those of us who like to hold things in their hands, not their hard-drive. We will have at least one T-shirt design ready by the time the CD is pressed, if not earlier. We’ll see how things shape up, but maybe we’ll do some kind of package/pre-order thing. Who knows…well, you will…but give us a little time to finish planning things. Anyways, we’ve continued writing and are collecting songs for an eventual full length CD, which we are already very excited about. We’ll be playing this stuff, along with the “Koalacaust” EP at our live shows. Old Prevail songs may pop up now and then, but don’t expect them.

Also, I (Scott) recently recorded some guest vocals on the Silence At Daybreak full length CD, “The Irony Of Disgust”. I am honored to be a part of it, and you can also hear Dave from Destroying The Machine shortly after my portion of the track. The CD is amazing and should be released soon. You need to check it out. I’m sure we’ll remind you again.
